  • Satanchicken. I am originally from your area.

  • Shortly after founding the group, Philpott wrote The Third Sex?, which claimed that his patients had successfully changed their sexual orientation through prayer. Some of his patients challenged these assertions; however, Philpott stated it was God's will that the book be written. Four members of the group, including Evans, filed suit for misrepresentation. Shortly after, Philpott had the book removed from the market.

  • He was quoted by the Wall Street Journal (April 21, 1993) as saying: "They're destroying people's lives. If you don't do their thing, you're not of God, you'll go to hell. They're living in a fantasy world."

  • Love In Action, or LIA, is an ex-gay, Christian ministry founded in 1973 by Frank Worthen, John Evans, and Kent Philpott.[1][2] It was the first group to publicize cases of homosexuals who had allegedly become heterosexual or managed to abstain from homosexual sex. After Evans's friend Jack McIntyre committed suicide out of despair about his inability to change, Evans left the project and denounced it as dangerous.

  • i dont believe in heaven or hell but if hell did exsist then "Love in Action" is hell on earth!

  • On a lighter note I am happy to see that a proud and brave few are standing up for the true christians with an educated perspective, and making it a better place person by person. It's hard to undo the hurt, fear, and grief that has become the widespread result of such powerful organizations and politics there.

  • ...I would not care if Jackson and Memphis and all their "christian" oppression, brainwashing, and hate were wiped off the face of the earth. As far as I am concerned with all the sexual abuse being so prominent in that "christian" region of the U.S. those two cities are the real sodom and gommorah of today.

  • I'm from Mississippi and Memphis unfortunately is similar to my birthplace in that the majority of the population prefers practicing more acts of incest than tolerance. I despise that area and its long history of abuse, oppression, and inhumanity. I will never go back.

  • Yes, it is. I was a client there from March to May 2003. I was hurt, and destroyed. I am still wounded to this day. The good thing, though, is LIA was forced to fire a great number of their staff since they violated the states counseling laws.

  • Bloody hell, just to make sure that I read that right the first 7 times, the program is called "Love in Action"? That's the name of a program that makes money by feeding off hatred and discrimination? I'll back up what GrimaProductions said, Thank God for those protestors, it's horrific to know that I'm on the same planet as these extremeists, "curing" homosexuality usually causes extreme mental side effects, that sometime lead to suicide, I can't get this straight in my head: Love in action?
