The Rapier has gone through a lot of updating since it first appeared - the current version is very capable.

@PurplePunisher69 I can shit off the back of the truck while steering a Mistral. It is on a pedestal. Ms. UK don't like to accept the fact her SAM systems suck.

@stalkingalizee yes, a missile system that need to be put down whilst the operator goes to the toilet. Very effective...seems Mr France is riding high on the Libya thing that makes up for the lack of involvement in recent years..c'est la vie...

Yeah the BV was a good bit of kit. I know the guy commanding this particular fire unit, If my eyes don't decieve me of course. I can't remember his name though. When I knew him he was the BSM of 42 Battery 22 AIR defence Regiment and a complete dickhead. And he was WELSH!! No offence meant to all the other valley commandos out there. For all first time operators on firing camp on the island of Benbecula (North Sea), it meant a swim in Stinky Bay, in winter!! MIssile range 7,5 Km. Heating crap

The range is too short to really be effective. Might as well carry a MANPAD... much cheaper.
