This is Te Kanawa's first undertaking as the Countess and it's breathtaking!!!!. This was recorded and staged especially for her documentary in 1991. It's is however sacriligious to not showcase the whole scene but instead it is interrupted by voice overs etc..very annoying. Perhaps one day the producers will release the full length version for all to enjoy!

She's gorgeous!
-
is she singing live, or is she lipping to a track?
this looks like it is a film, no audience
either way it is a sublime performance. she can fill the stage without singing a note. and I love her in Strauss the most

Perfection, as always! No one can compare to her in this role (although Felicity Lott comes close!). There are several productions of this with Dame Kiri available on DVD, with the SF and Vienna versions being very different from one another....

Divine performance on the part of Dame Kiri, as per usual. I much prefer it to that of those singing it today.....There a couple of fine, and very different, productions of this with Dame Kiri out on DVD.

DIVIN !!! RAVVISEMENT !!!

A divine singer in a divine performance of a divine opera.

Renee Fleming's singing in this Strauss masterpiece staged at the Paris Opera Garnier.recently is even more wonderful, as was the brilliant staging of it in that gorgeous setting. Still, Te Kanawa also captures the beauty of Strauss' music.

Superb, perfect and unique!

Te Kanawa is perfect as the Countess - experience the SF Opera 1993 DVD with her in the role.

This is last scene from Capriccio. It isn't complete though, there's a voice over after that's why I didn't post it to the end but is just missing some seconds of music.
