This video describes some benefits of alpha-lipoic acid and Vitamin D, the former with regards to Lyme disease and the latter in more general terms. If you believe heavy metals are a problem with you, I would not recommend doses of above 2-300 mg of alpha-lipoic acid, as it is a very powerful heavy metal chelator. (In the video I mention 600 mg as the max dose, but I have since rescinded my position on this. To be on the safe side, I would stay at a lower dose, unless you are also taking a strong heavy metal binder such as DMSA, and especially if metals are a significant problem for you. Note: This video was actually recorded four weeks ago. I am just now getting a chance to post it! See also my written blog post (from early January) on these nutrients: www.lymebytes.blogspot.com

  • I am not giving medical advice--I am sharing what I have learned through my experiences. If my videos don't benefit you, I suggest you look elsewhere for info. on Lyme. I try to offer what I know to help others but when people respond with such cruel comments I start to wonder why I even bother.

  • Hi Cotmh, I am only a researcher and Lyme sufferer. This has been my passion over the past five years. Thanks, C

  • You can get alpha lipoic acid in any health food or vitamin store, as a supplement. Thanks!

  • Hi Thane,

I have known some to have serious adverse reactions to the Marshall protocol. It is very controversial. I know it has helped some but I would personally find a different way to treat Lyme. Benicar, if your BP is low, I would not take. Hope this helps!

  • ALA pulls out mercury. The side effects of improper chelation can be devastating on every system of the body. Not to mention it can make every infection you have flare up big time. There has been a long debate on whether individuals with mercury toxicity should use ALA outside of a frequent dose schedule. Personally, I listen to Andy Cutler on this issue.

  • Eat herring. It has a ridiculous amount of Vitamin D.

  • HI C , I have been taking ALA for 4 weeks now but my BLOOD SUGAR levels are falling with this ..as it is known to reduce Blood Sugar .... Any Suggestions , so that they dont drop too low ..... :( . Thanks

  • Ala not taken frequently moves mercury into the brain and organs as it binds to the mercury then after the 3 hour half life is over the mercury is redistributed around the body and into the brain. I know many who have gotten much worse with neurological conditions developing after taking it as a supplement.

  • Thanks for the great video Connie, this is info everyone can use for their health. . .Also, I wondered had you tried high doses of Vitamin C for your Lyme's? Or possibly Lypo-Spheric Vit C (which is the best money can buy)? I've spoken to several people that had GREAT success with both forms of Vit C w/Lyme's Disease. (not too mention Intraveneous Vit C)

  • no wonder you got lyme disease! your squatting in the middle of a grass field!
