Description : The movie is about gambling bum named Ratan (K.L. Saigal) who runs into the beautiful Shrimati (Jamuna), an errant wife of an abusive husband.

In a park, the vagabond gambler Ratan (Saigal) encounters Shrimati (Jamuna) who has escaped from her brutal husband. They soon team up and start begging for donations for a fake charity. With the money, they rent an apartment and live together until Shrimatis father dies and she inherits his wealth. Feeling like she must atone for her sins, she devotes herself to social work and adopts an orphan named Lakhia, but he discovers that he cannot live without her, while she, feeling she must pay for her guilty life, rejects him. To ensure a happy ending, the two meet again as though on the threshold of a new afterlife. Alternate Title : Life
