  • Ok I have registered my domain name with go daddy, i done exactly what you said seems to be working when I type in the go daddy URL takes me to my Google website, but I notice the address bar at the top is still the original Google sites URL not my w w w.*****.com web address,

  • @MRWHITE3535 This is right, when you point your domain name at your site it simply re-directs traffic to your Google site URL. You can change the Google sites URL to your .com URL but it is more involved and I wanted to keep this series as simple as possible. You do it from your GoDaddy account.

  • I see your domain name no longer works!

  • @MRWHITE3535 Yes, I am in the process of building a fully paid for site for my business needs. I am now concentrating on 3D graphic design and animation for the commercial sector.

  • Hi mate you've helped me out before thank you, I have just constructed a site but need to know how to tag so so people can find it, as it is different now from what you showed, also I plan on getting a domain name, how do I put that in?

Thanks for all your help ;-)

  • Hi, thanks for loading this, I like to ask you if I do build a website with google sites, how do I use my domain name (already purchased with hosting)? At the moment my website is html and curated by a third party, something i like to do myself without learning html. Those google site host the sites or do i still have to pay a hosting company? Also I need a payment method on my site and a link to Blogger.

Many thanks for your patience, I'm not fantastic on technology : )

  • @MRWHITE3535 There are a couple of ways you could choose. The first would be to add a Google "checkout" app to your site, you can simply make an image a link or you can simple have a text link. Adding Google checkout is as simple as following the instructions but I'm not sure if there is a fee for this. To make an image a link you simple right click it (in edit mode) and there is a place to put a custom URL and the third you simply click on "add link" (again In edit mode)

    I'm pleased to help :)

  • @IanDigs

Thanks mate for taking the time to reply, it's just a simple website I want to design, with pictures of the product i that i sell, with a sales button to press that will take you two a PayPal checkout, can that be done?

  • @MRWHITE3535 No, once you own a domain name it is yours for the length of time you bought it for and the only additional cost I can think of is you may be charged a fee to by the company you bought it from to transfer it to your site URL. I bought my URL/domain name from Godaddy and because it is basically my name it was very cheap so I bought it for two years. I don't remember paying to transfer it to my Google site but things always change!

  • @MRWHITE3535 Hey and thanks for watching my videos, I'm grateful.

Yes you can start a business website on Google sites but please remember they are very basic sites and don't offer a lot of choices for customization. ie. Google sites do not like external html codes such as apps etc. When you say "can I link paypal...." do you mean have a link from your site to your paypal account? If so this is very easy to do.

    Good luck with it.

  • Another question if a register a domain name, do I also pay monthly charge?

  • I'm looking to construct a simple site for a small business, can I do it with Google sites? And can I link PayPal payments into it?

  • @bmxandscoot4life Hey, and sorry for the delay in replying, unfortunately this isn't an option on Google sites. The only thing I can suggest is to find a third party app that Google will accept and use that. I don't personally know of any but you may be luckier than me!

I did recently find a video chat app that Google will accept so there might be something out there!

  • how do you like make it where people can make acounts and stuff

  • @busoLostop At the top right of your page (when you are signed into your site) you will see a pen icon and a page icon beside the "more" drop down list. Click the Page icon as this creates the new pages.

  • @IanDigs GoogleSites is really frustrating me...How in the hell do I even create another section to my site besides Home, Sitemap?

  • @TheVeryRandommShow That's great news, I'm really pleased to have helped you out mate :)

  • @IanDigs Thank you i made it! its called Judes media music

  • @TheVeryRandommShow I think the reason is simply that your trying for a topic that is incredibly popular and has lots and lots of sites all looking for the best name available. Lots of people will register URL's purely to stop others from having them in the vain hope that they might make money from them later. Try something with your name or username included in the URL like, thevrsmusic. This link may help;

    google.com/support/forum/p/sites/thread?tid=6920f8e411a18c85&hl=en

  • @IanDigs i keep trying to make another website which i wanna name like music or something but everytime i try to name something that has to do with music like music 24/7 or free music or free music media or something it keeps saying my location is unavailable and i do not get it i try doing different names but it keeps saying that PLEASE HELP!

  • @TheVeryRandommShow Yes you can I have created several for other people but initially they are all in my name

  • if you already have a website can you make another one?

  • @Editutes That's great mate, as long as you got sorted. ;~)

  • @IanDigs Yea ian thanks, going to buy a domain on thursday, i will buy throughy our site :)

  • @Editutes Did you find what you were looking for mate?
