At NECR's headquarters in St. Albans, VT, we see a meeting of two railroads. A late CN 324 comes southbound with a surprise, CN D8-40C 2113, which is a newly purchased (old) locomotive from UP. It is also one of very few which has received a special 15th Anniversary paint scheme. At the same time, NECR yard job 501 was prepping the CN outbound, 323, and NECR 323 had finished its work and the power was put away. We even have a close-up walk-around tour of 2113's exterior, as it sits in front of the NECR offices. Later, we chase 323 northbound. The crew on the CN 323 is bilingual in English and French; most of the shifting was done in French.

  • oooozy...ok i have a dumb question. are you retired? you seem to have a lot of time to go wherever and shoot these videos. Not trying to be negative here. love the railroad videos...keep up the great work.

  • @highlife0586

No, I'm in college in Vermont so I take videos up north now. Last year I didn't have a job, and I probably won't this coming summer, so that's how I have the time to take all of these videos.

  • As usual Eric very nice work. Looks like you have found a nice treasure trove of action up your way. very nice panning and zooming to follow the action. The viewer could never tire from seeing your videos. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more. I hope school is treating you well. Enjoy.. Steve & Sharon

  • @hdskullfire2

Thanks. The work is busy, but you can't complain when you are walking distance from the tracks. It's definitely a different lifestyle up here; things are great. Hope everything is well with you also!

  • Nice catch on 323/324, I've been waiting for them to get one of these.

As for chasing through Swanton, coming up South River Street, just keep going straight. Even if you did make a wrong turn, you should have no problem beating him to the west end of the East Alburg Trestle (they do ~5 MPH across the structure).

  • @TAMR159

Eh, we got so lost we ended up on 7 completely the wrong way from the tracks, haha. This was my first outing, so I know better for next time!

  • Any idea why the P&W engine was in the consist?

  • Check out my video called "CN Train Spotting: Rare CN 2124 15th Anniversary Engine" thanks!

  • yeah i seen that cn 15th anniverseary unit a few months ago

  • What in the world was a P&W doing up there?

  • Very nice! I saw that CN 15th paint scheme for the first time going through here (Kingston Ontario) a couple of weeks ago. The background on my channel was that train, but you can't see the locomotive. Great video!

  • From Newton to the border, it's Track Warrant Control authority. Maximum authorized speed is 25mph on the Swanton Sub. Speed restriction of 5mph on the East Alburgh trestle and drawbridge.

  • I film CN 323 every so often on this side of the border. It usually waits for Amtrak's Adirondack at CN Cantic. Usually a daylight operation. Runs to St. Albans in the morning and returns in the afternoon to Montreal.

The Swanton Sub is a joint operation with CN. NECR dispatcher out of St. Albans dispatches from St Albans to the US/Canada Border. Northward movements from there to Cantic are supplied by RTC Montreal.

Just get an enhanced drivers licence and you can come across. :)

  • I was wondering why you were living with our friends to the north in the edge of the U.S. You, walking with a camera? This must be a rare event ever so more without a tripod. Hehe

  • Dude I saw CN 15 in Durand Michagon

  • Nice work Oooooozy! If I need a good fix for trains, I know where to come too!
