@areacode718 untangle also needs 10x the hardware requirements and takes a day to boot up.

Untagle is better but smoothwall has something that untagle does not have.... Real time bars of bandwidth usage love the graph on badwidth better then untagle. smoothwall was my first UTM distro. smoothwall its a good start if you are looking for a fast utm.

Hey guys, MY smoothwall works with out a problem but i cant webadmin it from any other lcoation via port 441, i can only access it locally in my network but i cant seen to find why or where i can change the port for me to webadmin it from a diffrent lcoation for example work or any other place but home. does anyone know how and how to change the port instead of 441 or 81 thanx in advance. please keep in mind i can webadmin it if i am in the green zone network but not away via the internet

I am currently using smoothwall.... its working for me way better then my dlink router and linksys router, the part that is complicated is the port foward, and how to get the remote admin feture. love the bandwidth meter and the report that does on how much bandwidth it has used.

@latticelinux not if you got unlimited internet connection. for me i got no speedcap. its as fast as the NIC goes. i have runs on bredbandskollen se rateing from 200mbits dl to 700mbits dl depending on time of test.

@37474748 your full of shit dude. You can only reach the speeds that your ISP gives you no matter how good your internal network is. Just cause you have gig router, switch, and nics does not mean you get gig speeds on the net

Im running this on my 1800mhz pentium 4 with 768mb of ram. Running 100mbits fiberoptics. I pull stunning internet speeds well over the rated speed.
