She's got a nice singing voice. Most great songs got a little structure; the basic tune, a bridge, (differing tune) and in most cases, the volume and (often emotional) intensity grow slowly so that generally 1 voice is gradually added to by another in increments. Listen to Cat Stevens and the Dixie Chicks; it's a great technique and would skyrocket her songwriting.
