you can actually move out of the red beam for about 3 seconds without it effecting netherspite in anyway. Moving in and out the beam actually works quite well :]
Although I'm a bit confused why you ran out the room :/ you shouldnt have to do that xD

im sorry to break your bubble, but tanking netherspite can almost be done by a dps pally or war, the blue beam is where most heals go, I have tanked nightbane in kara, now those the hardest hits you can take in kara.
