@mikewill9511 both are lyric voices. coloraturas are not rare.. just pure coloraturas, which have a rare agility in their voices. Which none of them are and will never be. To hear what a coloratura can sing listen to Anna Moffo, Damrau, Dessay, Sutherland. All have lyric or dramatic voices and still have coloratura in their voice(agility). The pure coloratura soprano sounds like Ingeborg Hallstein, Lily Pons, ofc there are also others.

@MrNakhrul I'm not an expert, I just like to listen to music. Tarja might be better, but I don't care because I don't like her that much. It's as simple that.

On the other hand you were wrong all along. If you compare strictly the opera/classical voice, Tarja is better technically and has supreme control. Check out for eg her performing Carmen, too see how she combines slow/fast and even choked vibrato.

Lastly, I cannot even consider Lori of entering a "contest" with Tarja, because Tarja was a powerhorse soloist all her life.

Lori just sings generic/easy/short coloratura here and there in Therion and AD.

Tarja controls her vibrato only when singing classical, in rock she does not even think about it (said that herself in a recent interview).

This is a huge difference right here, one that most don't get: in rock Tarja sings rock woth classical technique. Lori (attempts to) sings opera coloratura in metal.. excuse me if I want to puke, the result sounds like shit.

So, you "feel" that Lory transmits more emotion because she CONTROLS more?

@MrNakhrul Tarja might be better, but I stand her voice live. I just feel like she's using way too much vibrato. And her singing is soulless to me also because her vibrato. It sometimes makes Tarja sound like she's out of tune (even though she isn't). That's why I prefer Lori. She controls her vibrato much better for my taste and sings with a lot emotions.
