Spend the time on the basics. Rhythm is everything. When they have the rhythm they can do six or sixty pretty easily. Bandit now does twelve on his own.

gets them and then treat. This also really enforces correct entry. When your dog is being reliable add a third. Hang back a step and let the dog figure it out and look for the new pole. Again click and treat between the last two and feed the treat near the last pole. You can then add poles one at a time. I like this because it teaches the dog to weave on its own without the handler right beside it. When your dog is good at six upright weaves then add the verbal command.

He picked up on it really fast. The ones in the video are channel weaves about eight inches apart. I played with channel weaves some which I think helped him associate the weaves as part of agility. I also played with the angled weave-o-matics. Use a really good reward, for Bandit it's a ball or tug, and don't move on until they have mastered whatever width your doing. My other favorite thing, which I learned at 4H dog camp, was to start with two poles and use a clicker when the dog
