What an idiot! Oh yes, he's fallen off his bike numerous times (such an accomplished rider he is!) and he would've gotten some brain injury if not for his helmet.

Pickering's attack is typical of the I get if I dare to question the nanny state helmet laws. If he wants to wear a helmet whilst charging around in full lycra warrior wanker mode that doesn't mean I need to wear a helmet while tootling to the shop on my upright bike.
Would he be happy if his logic that Sue Abbott shouldn't receive medical treatment was applied by an anti-cycling doctor if he were to fall off his bike and break an arm.

That's not what cycling to work should be like. Just calm down and cruise!! It's still faster than driving!

Compulsory helmet laws are ridiculous. These interviewers are morons. I bet they've done no research at all. As sue says, helmet laws have drastically reduced cycling numbers and made no impact on serious head injuries. Also, getting aggressive and angry in an interview is not the way for supposed 'journalists' to treat a guest either.

stop riding if you keep coming off your bike,idiot, never had a head based accident in 37 years of riding,every other kind of abrassion and such like ,but a helmet would only cost me money and not stop any of the injuries i sustained... plus if it's cheap one,you look like an idiot!
