The Monster&Gold exergame (developed by the HCI Lab of the University of Udine) uses the GPS in the phone to detect speed and a Bluetooth ear clip sensor to measure heart rate, while the player jogs outdoors.
Along the way, players find virtual monsters (that should be avoided by slowing down), and gold, potion, and shield items (that should be collected, sometimes by speeding-up and sometimes by keeping current speed).
The kind of items and their time of appearance depend on the player's profile and hearth rate. Game events are dynamically generated to keep the user in the optimal exercise range.
More information on Monster&Gold is available in the technical paper recently published by the IEEE Pervasive magazine: http://hcilab.uniud.it/publications/2010-09.html
