@123petgirl1 Before you call somebody an idiot, if you read Yoder, et al., 2009: "Regulation of the external mycoflora of the giant Madagascar hissing-cockroach,Gromphadorhina portentosa, by its mite associate,Gromphadorholaelaps schaeferi, and its implications on human health " you'll find that there is still debate on whether G. portentosa actually "need" the mites at all. In this situation, what you don't know is that the mite population exploded beyond what the tank could handle.
I heard that Madagascar Hissing roaches have a mutualistic relationship with a certain type of mite. Either way, I don't know what type of mites these have, so I guess it's best to be sure :P
