Meet Arthur Guy Kaplan, an expert in antique jewelry whose book on the subject is in is seventh printing. Kaplan gives us a fascinating, hands-on walk-through of an 1870s French cameo jewelry suite that he brought to the 39th annual Winnetka Antiques Show at the Winnetka Community house.

Mary Kay Burke of Coldwell Banker's Winnetka North office was my hostess and guide for the first day of the show, which runs through Sunday, March 9. We were joined by M.L. Jast of the Winnetka Community House Board of Governors.

The show draws more than 50 dealers from around the country who exhibit pieces ranging in price from the tens of dollars to the tens of thousands, and provide mini-seminars on their areas of expertise

This is one of five videos we shot at the show.

  • Not only is Arthur Kaplan an expert in his field who has the ability to make secret compartments in old boxes interesting, and can tell you anything you want to know about Victorian jewelry, but he's an amazing person! I'm very proud of my dad- he's a gem!!

  • I don't think a man can hope for any greater tribute than to have his children be proud of him.

  • WOW! This piece is amazing! I love Victorian jewelry. Especially cameos sets. The multifunctional jewelry is always of special interest to me! Thank you for making this show. Love it!

  • Awesome!!! I have a weakness for victorian jewelry!

  • I just learned something from this video that I had been wondering about. I have had a pin with two little push-in things inside the frame. Now I know they are to attach it to a bracelet. Thanks for the information.
