Getting to the top of "endless" stairs (Super Mario 64)

On Super Mario 64 I use the backwards long jump to go so fast up the stairs that I reach the top without having to get 70 stars.


Now, since people have been wondering, here's instructions on how to perform this glitch:

If you want to know how to do it, it's simple. It does take a lot of practice, though, like many other glitches.
What you should do first is do a long jump forward, and then hold down on the control stick, while pressing a at the right time to perform a backwards long jump. There's the first part, knowing how to do a backwards long jump.

Make sure when you start doing this, that your back is allined with the middle of the stairs.

Then once you can do that, do it on the stairs. Once you backwards long jump once, time the landing so you hit a again, therefor doing another long jump backwards. Now keep timing it to make yourself keep going, and slowly INCREASE your tapping of the a button until you are tapping it very fast. If you do it right, you will start heading up the stairs extremely fast. You will end up breaking the speed boundary and getting up the infinite stairs. Make sure when you start doing this, that your back is allined with the middle of the stairs.

It does take a lot of practice, so keep trying. Remember, it can be frustrating. So keep that in mind while you're doing this.
