See how to tell if your starter is still alive. Honda Civic starter motor/solenoid directly plugged to a battery for functionality testing.

  • Vehicles power the starter with just the 12 volt battery inside the assembly. What better way to test to see and to make sure the starter is functioning properly by powering the starter with a 12 volt battery OUTSIDE the assembly?

  • in modern electronics, current travels from pos to neg. microprocessor design and electronics use this concept; shouldn't be diff for car batteries.

Also doesn't matter which you connect 1st or last. What's important to remember is the car's body can act as ground. So do not touch anything postively conductive while touching the car's body to prevent getting shocked.

I've been shocked with batteries and it is harmless compared to sparkplug shocks

  • nevermind the music; the concept in powering your starter through your own car battery is the primary focus. besides there's nothing special or exciting about the sound of a spinning motor and a thrusting solenoid. just look at the sparks and the torque on the motor that causes the whole starter to wobble

  • I tried to watch the video, but couldn't stand the music. Muted it, and then finished it, which sucks. And then it looks like a bad way to test a starter.

  • you can also take a starter to like an autozone/oreilly auto parts/parts store... they have testers... they test for free

  • Why does everyone put shitty techno music as the backdrop for their car repair videos?

  • That's odd.,. I had a starter that wouldn't work on the car but it worked fine off the car. Point of the story is this is not a good way to test a starter.

  • I would have watched this video if you had left in the mechanical noises (which I want to hear) instead of putting in annoying shitty music that doesn't match the video.

  • @palmpreflix by who? I can't find it. Thank you!

  • THANK YOU!

  • @analiliar

It's called "One Day you will Know"

  • what is the name of this song?
