Scenes are taken from the film "Lilja 4-ever" (Lukas Moodysson, 2002), which is mainly about Lilja (Oksana Akinshina), a young girl living in a deprived area of the former Soviet Union, who is abandoned by her mother (Lyubov Agapova), starts prostituting herself for extra cash and later is deceived by her new boyfriend Andrei (Pavel Ponomaryov) who makes her travel into Sweden, where she is forced to work as a prostitute and imprisoned in a nearly empty apartment.

But the film also tells the sad story of Volodya (Artyom Bogucharsky), Liljas younger friend, who is rejected by his father and with whom she forms a tender protective relationship.

  • It's movies like this that show the real troubles in life in other places in the world, while here in the United States,we take things for granted. Especially love.

  • @TheAwesomeOne121 Good comment!

  • Her mother was a bitch for abandoning her. You do NOT abandon your own children for anything in the world.

And Lilja should have listened to Volodya, at least he was smart enough to realize she was being used.

  • THEY WERE LISTENING TO TATU!!!!! <3 This movie is very alarming. But cannot go unnoticed..

  • This is a very strong movie and yes it is sad but it is also poetic and beautiful. It is difficult for Americans to go past the tragedy and look into the relm of this harsh reality and appreciate what and how the two young kids support each other. He was her angel in the end. An allegory. Yes, disturbing yet beautiful.

  • @BullRadu poverty, not communism. probably the best known country when it comes to sexual exploitation of children is thailand, and they were never communist.

otoh, yugoslavia was communist, but well off for a communist country, doesn't have these problems.

don't be so close minded. (all) ideologies are drugs for the masses.

  • @McLarenMercedes though life makes people lose their mind. it's easy to judge

  • this is what comunism did to the world

  • this is fucking sad...am crying my eyes out
