*Sam's P.O.V.*
I slowly awoke to the sound of quiet murmurings disrupting my dreams. In a sudden jolt I regained my feeling... and my consciousness. The smell of disinfectant burning my nose and the scratchy sheets beneath me made it obvious that I was lying in a hospital bed. My first instinct was to open my eyes; however I chose to let myself idle in the darkness while I tried to avoid the harsh reality I would soon have to face.
My attention wandered over to the voices that had woken me up just moments ago. The voices seemed strangely close and it didnt take me long to focus my hearing and realize that there was a patient in a bed next to me.
"How are you feeling?" I overheard a male voice speak.
"I'm doing fine now." The boy in the bed replied.
"Well, thats good to here. When do you think you'll be getting out?" A second voice asked.
"Soon... I hope."
I heard the boy sigh, but suddenly their attention was diverted.
"Who's the girl over there?" Obviously referring to me.
"I have no clue." The boy in the bed answered.
Suddenly, the door creaked open and two pairs of feet tip-toed inside the room.
"Hey, sweetie." A woman's soft caring voice floated through the air. "Your father and I have been worried sick about you, but we just finished speaking to the nurse and she said you will be well enough to come home tonight."

I stared into my son's eager eyes as he took in the good news. I gave him a kiss on the top of his head and smiled back at him. Suddenly, I felt a gentle tapping on my arm and looked up at my husband. I gave him a confused look until I saw him subtly gesture over to the bed next to us. I grabbed my hand trying to stop it from shooting up to my mouth. My composure was surely weakening as I came to recognize the young girl lying in the bed. Within one glance my husband could tell that I was not in a state to talk so he quickly excused us both from the room leaving the boys with concerned looks on their faces.
Once we were out of the room I was finally able to let my mouth drop and my eyes widen.
"Do you think we should tell the boys?" My husband asked me.
A million thoughts were running through my mind at this point, but only one answer seemed to take precedence over the others.
"No." I answered calmly. "They need to figure out who she is by themselves."
My husband once again looked at me, but I could tell that he wasn't about to question my judgement. So he nervously smiled at me as I assured him, "It's for the best."

I waited for all the visitors in the room to leave until I finally decided to open my eyes. I kept my head on the pillow as I slowly scanned the room right to left; taking in the off-white walls and spackled ceiling. Not much of a sight. To my disappointment, I was also deprived the sight of friendly face or family member leaning over to greet me in my awakening. Figures. I tried to not let it phase me as I prepared myself for the next step. I bent my elbows out and placed my hands flat beneath me as I struggled to lift myself up. Turns out, I was a lot weaker than I had expected, but I managed to raise my upper body off the bed and stay sturdy against my arms. I was now able to get a better view of the world around me. Keeping my head to the right, I attempted to try and see between the slits in the curtains to the outside world. However, it wasn't long before I was startled by an unfamiliar voice.
"Have a good sleep?" He asked me.
I gasped in response and quickly turned to face him.
"Im sorry. I didnt mean to scare you." The boy in the bed next to me said with an equally startled expression on his face.
My breath caught in my throat and I instantly lost the feeling in my hands. I examined the face in front of me trying to convince myself that the person staring back at me was not who I thought it was. Intently, my eyes travelled over each and every one of his features; his eyes, his hair, his cheeks, even the freckles dotted on his face and neck. But the longer I looked the more the evidence became clear that I was not mistaken.
He looked at me sort of confused by my reaction... or should I say lack thereof. But he continued to let his warm smile attempt to try and break the tension between us... whether he was aware of it or not. He gently stuck out his hand towards me with an air of authority about him. His eyes were warm and gentle however the way he presented himself made him seem so confident and sure of himself, but not in a negative way. I hesitated to take his hand as he then tried to comfort me with his words.
"Hey, I'm Nick... what's your name?"
