@MrVolcanovaporizer Oh, Smart...Good idea :)

@LastDayStudios I said I wanna use the Signal Generator of my DAW for my 1176LN calibration. I'm building my own 1176 clone. I will compare with the UAD plugin :)

@MrVolcanovaporizer I hate to break the news, but> the one in your DAW doesn't sound as close to the Hardware>its a BIG HYPE>the ONLY EQ's and Compressors that sound close to the actual hardware units are the CLA' plugins by "Chris Lord Al G" and the "V" Comp and V Eq's by Eddie Kramer. All under the Waves Mercury Bundle.....However>they will not simulate as much warmth as the actual Hardware units.

OK thanks :) i'll use the one in my DAW

Use the input control on the compressor to adjust the output of the compressor to +1dB VU. This is just for reference, the main goal you are trying to accomplish is making sure that Q1 is just starting to conduct (1dB). This way you know that there isn't any lag from when the signal hits the threshold and when the FET starts to compress.

what do you use to send a 1khz signal +1dB in the input for calibration ?

@MrVolcanovaporizer I used a frequency generator set to 1kHz 0dB VU or +4dBu (1.23vrms). You may have a signal generator plugin in your DAW that you could set for this as well. The level shouldn't be that important, just make sure that you are seeing a +1dB level on the output of the compressor, then adjust to 0.
