Sony Launch Network Media Player : A Streaming Internet Video WiFi Box

Sonys new 'Network Media Player' connects via Wi-Fi through out the house to stream a wide range of audio and video content - especially for YouTube, Apple and Android based devices.

Formerly only available as a unit built in to Sony TVs, this new compact 'Network Media Player' allows instant online access to TVs around the house.

Now you can catch up on TV shows you've missed with the likes of the BBC iPlayer™ and Demand Five™, watch a world of online video through services such as YouTube, or order a night's entertainment from the latest movies on offer at Lovefilm (UK ONLY) on any TV you choose.

To make the most of those YouTube clips, the SMP-N100 has IP Content Noise Reduction, optimising the picture quality even when watching user-generated content. The device will also play audio tracks and display photos on the screen.

The device can be controlled by your android smart phone apps, iPhone apps or an iPod app. A dedicated Sony handset is supplied as standard too.

As already reported this is yet another device, this time similar to Apple TV, that could be taking up residence in a home near you.

It seems that there are just a few big brands targeting this potential phenonimen with Apple having the most experience on the carpet...

the sony smp-n100 works great but it doesn't give me access to online news via msnbs, fox, or cnn,  If you're giving up cable, you gotta have online access to the news. why no flash player?
