Engine noises aren't to hard to diagnose if you follow a few steps.

  • thanks

  • Thanks for the great video, can you tell me if a knock was in an engine what would you do to fix it? change bearings and piston?

  • Can't that mess up your engine???

  • @TheCody004 Good point bro, that never even came to mind. (Y)

  • I have 155,000 on my 94 1.9l, that spark plug is always tough to get off; still running great! Trying to work on a 2.2l chevy, has some noise and some oil pressure problems; took off the valve cover rockers look fine, still thinking it is a lifter.

  • nice!

  • This is great. I appreciate the lesson. You have a great channel for a home mechanic like myself. Thank you for your time and effort.

  • @howmuchtimeisleft

He actually said it would remove the combustion pressure. The force of combustion pressure is much greater than compression. Without that spark, the piston will not be propelled on the power stroke the way it would have, had that mixture ignited. This changes the sound of the rod knock by reducing the amount of load the rod bearing has to support on that power stroke. (where that knock is likely most present)

  • you said that removing a spark plug wire removes the compression from the cylinder? removing a spark PLUG would relieve the pressure.

  • Umm sir, I am pretty sure that motor is the 2.0l "SPI" found in the 97 and newer Ford Escort Sedans, and wagons. It appears that the owner of that vehicle was trying to deceive everyone by using the 1.9L "SEFI" Valve cover. Based on the intake manifold, that motor is a 2.0. It's a common swap for the 91-96 Escorts and Tracers, almost a direct bolt-in, and roughly 25 more HP.

Haha, Hi Dad, the video is good! My 93 Tracer wagon is not. Time for my next Engine swap? Goodbye knocking SOHC...
