This is a short video of Glen Frost (Director, Frocomm Australia) at a conference I ran at the Rydges Lakeside Hotel in Canberra on 10th November 2009; "I ran a one day conference at Rydges, lakeside in Canberra on 10th November 2009; as you can see/hear, the building work and noise from the builders is very loud. I was told by Rydges in March 2009, when I booked the venue, that the building work would be finished. I was told by Rydges the week before the conference that the building renovations hadn't been completed but that the building work wouldn't disrupt the conference. On the morning of the conference I repeatedly asked the staff, and the General Manager to stop the drilling and banging as it was disrupting my conference. The noise from the builders could be heard in the conference room, in the registration area and in the break-out rooms. One break-out session had to be moved because the noise from the builders drills was so loud, people couldn't hear the speakers. Again I asked the Rydges staff to ask the builders to stop work; again, I was told they couldn't."
well I know I'll never be recommending Rydges Lakeside for conferences. I hope they gave you a full refund!
