Second encounter with a Multanova speed camera whilst testing the new Escort Redline Radar Detector. Last time (video) the Valentine One and the Escort 9500ci were running simultaneously to compare all 3 radar detectors. This time, to eliminate any possibility of interference to the Escort Redline by the Valentine One, only the Escort Redline was powered up.

The result - even when mounted vertically, the Escort Redline was roughly half the range of the Valentine One at detecting the low powered, polarized 34.3GHz radar signal from the speed camera.

Conclusion: Whilst the Redline would be suited for use outside of Western Australia (where there are NO Multanova 6F speed cameras in use), I do not recommend on relying on a Redline for suitable speed camera warning within WA - which is the only state in Australia that uses the Multanova 6F speed cameras.

I won't be trading in my V1 for an Escort Redline anytime soon...

  • Any chance they could use the spectre radar detector detector to catch v1 users? Im worried about the future ban on radar detectors in wa.

  • @azntubester Absolutely they could use the Spectre. See our earlier videos on how far the Spectre detects the V1. Mind you it's almost impossible to tell which car has the radar detector in city driving (with lots of cars on the road) The spectre is really only effective on the open road.

  • mate north lake road? i went past with my bel - sti R and smack bang ka band but at most 150m i think pretty sure the escort is better...like dnt get me wrong the sti R is good with piking up bulk cops especially highpatrol and undercover ( when they have there crap on )

  • My experiences have been (when mounted vertically, and set to narrow Ka-band) that the STi-R does as good as (sometimes better) than the V1.

Of course there could always be manufacturer variance, as seen plenty of times before with Bel products such as the RX65.

Given how poor the Redline did in my first test against a Multanova

  • That looks like decent detection of the Multanova speed cameras.

  • Of course you guys don't get the Multanova speed camera (low powered, polarized, Ka-band)

Even the (K-band) speed cameras used in Arizona are easier to detect than the Multanova IMO

  • @izimmm

Buy a Valentine one radar detector and find out.

  • LOL - some tool disliked this video.

  • Need to understand the diff with the wide vs narrow band Ka...

  • I see the videos from Arizona and it seems like all the detectors struggle against the low powered K band they use. It seems like the RD's do a little better and actually provide sufficient warning to the Ka band cameras in Australia.

  • It's "OK" but not as good as the Ka narrow band detectors like the STi-R & V1
