This is my first attempt to perform a stop motion movie with a "Tilt Shift" effect.
unfortunately, the result is not very representative.

The goal is to create by a post-processing technique (photoshop) a miniature faking, that you can also obtain with a tilt shift lens (but it's quite expensive).
The post-processing technique, involves blurring a photo to simulate the narrow depth of field found in macro photography and increasing the saturation of the picture, making the image appear to be of a miniature model.

  • Hey, this is one hell of a work to create the tilt effect on 1700 pics+!!! Great job. I was wondering if you could make any moving-stop motion-tilt shift movie though. It can be a pain to hold the camera while walking. Anyway, good job.

  • @jalanmerawan

hey, thanks. yes it was a lot of work, but nothing complicated. i'm sure some more clever technics are possible. and i think it's totally possible to make a moving tilt-shift stop-motion. it's just that you always have to keep in mind the basic tilt-shift technics. Anyway i already made a moving stop motion (without tilt shift effect); it's on youtube, on my account: "stop motion in paris" ,it wasn't as painful as you think;)

  • Nice one! Is it an edited video or a pics sequence?

  • Hi,

    thanks for the comment.

I confirm that it's a pics sequence. I shot a bit more than 1700 pictures in paris during a summer day. then, i used photoshop to create a tilt shift effect on each picture...I spent hours and hours on it. Finally, i transformed the pic sequence into a mpeg4 video to put it on youtube.
