I can't believe some of the comments on here, especially AllAmericanGuy01, 2 comments down who just rips everything and offers nothing. What a sad troll. Anyway, great work for your first time out with the umbrellas. Shots look really good.

It is unimaginable,if it was you first lighting session.Great...

Not bad but not good. The lighting could of been a little bit more creative and dramatic. I also didn't grasp what the photo shoot was really portraying. AND it just seems like it was a lot going on in the video between the editing, you setting up, the techno music and the preview of the photos were constantly moving so I wasn't really able to study the photo. I don't mean to sound like I'm nagging but I just think if you work on these, your photos would be great.

Great pictures m8, a couple of tips though.
1- When you have that much room behind your subject try adding another speedlite on a stand behind almost behind the subject (but out of shot) pointing towards the subject, almost like a hair light. This will make some of the pics a little less flat and will seperate the subject from the background,
2- if you use a wide angle close up proportion is sometimes off. Try standing further back shooting with a medium telephoto, and see how the pics look.

Great session....

great photo session....
but I think the shadows are not well controlled...
one of the most hard part in photographing human is shadows control, because it shapes the face and the body contour.

Great video - are the flashes being powered by a car battery? How did you set that up? You had the 580 EX on the camera for all the shots? What program were adjustments being made in (esp the close ups of the eyes etc)?
Thanks

The car battery and the inverter was used to power a 120v fan. Flashes were powered as usually - from AA batteries. I did not have a wireless flash transmitter so I used one of the on-camera 580EX as a master.
All editing was done in Adobe Photoshop.

somehow i doubt this is your 'first' umbrella lighting session. awesome photos tho. you should do a post processing tutorial. yay

Honestly, this is my first lighting session when I use umbrellas. There's not much post-processing involved, but I'm planning to do a couple of Photoshop tutorials with some new pictures.

This was your first lighting session? Amazing!
Why did you choose reflective umbrellas instead of shoot-thrus?
What were the two artifical light sources (580EXs, I assume?)
Were you using a Canon STE-2 or radio triggers?
Thanks. And again, nice job.

I'm not using Canon STE-2. I used on-camera flash as a trigger for the slaves. 580EX can act as a on-camera master. 480EX can't.
