The rare 1973 telecast of the 1970 Charles Strouse musical Applause, starring the incredible Lauren Bacall. Though the show - an adaptation of the Bette Davis movie All About Eve - is mostly forgotten now, it actually won the Tony for Best Musical, and Bacall won for Best Actress.
The quality is poor, yes, but I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. It's pure fun and seems like the epitome of that 70s style.
I do not in any way claim ownership of this video or its rights and give full credit to its creators and collaborators.
Penny Fuller is actually much better than Anne Baxter. Her "innocence" at the beginning is far more convincing.

"lots of little orphans with big eyes. But I guess we won't be looking at them much" I love it!!
Yeah, Robert Mandan was no George Sanders. Of course, I can't help picturing Chester from SOAP. Chester was reprehensible, but not outright evil like Addison DeWitt. And the lady that played Karen was certainly no Celeste Holm!
