I agree - to some extent - with what you're saying. But I would respectfully put it to you that you have missed the point. I, like yourself, am a BIG fan of the genre. But people go to see so-called "torture-porn" movies to be grossed out, not nessecarily scared. "Torture-porn" films aren't scary in the slightest. There are no chills, just gore.
Back in the days, horror movies like Nightmare on Elm Street were scary. Today, we need the sick, fucked up torture porn genre to be scared, because our Western society has become dull. And the Saw series isn't even good. Ever watched the first part again and (because you weren't on sensory overload like while watching it the first time) noticed all its plot holes and the silliness? I am a big fan of Horror genre and watch practically every movie, but I stopped watching after the third part...
