When it comes to law and order, Anna Bligh is determined to be tough on crime. In the 17 months she's been Premier, she's overseen the toughest sex offender laws in the country, and introduced tougher drug laws and increased penalties for accessory to manslaughter and attempted murder. She's cracked down on car hoons and made it harder for criminals to profit from crime. There are more frontline police, and a record police budget. And police are better equipped to tackle crime with the roll out of tasers. In this video, she discusses her plans to continue to protect the interests of Queenslanders, their communities, and their families.

How about stream lining the system so that Police and the courts aren't tied up so long on useless matters. There are much simpler ways to do the same job. It's also time the courts were turned to support victims of crime, not offenders. Make them plead guilty or not guilty at their first mention, modify the Bail Act to stop people getting bail if they are charged for other offences whilst on bail and make judges/ magistrates actually punish people. This would negate the need for extra police
