Journeying back to my first film production class (first meaning - with an actual camera and film at my disposal), I have found this short little ditty. Yes, it is quite "film-studenty" but it has its charms.

MOST PECULIAR was shot on a rainy Saturday on the student trampled campus of SFSU and the sandy, cold dunes of Ocean Beach, San Francisco.

In theory, it is an adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Caroll but with the undertones of a sexual identity crisis. In actuality, an exercise in film making - never to become anything more than Youtube fodder.

  • The film really hits it's stride at 00:26 but never really fully recovers after 00:29. That weird old-tymey song is catchy though.

  • Thats right! At 00:26 you can see Ghost Peeps member Vincent Gargiulo strutting his stuff in the background. His best film performance yet!

  • @groundview: Absolutely. Only drink dry ice tea with those you know and trust!

    ;p

  • @stagedazzler: ... Honestly, I thought the silence-to-writing-to-speech was intentional. Weren't we being taken on Alyss's journey into discovering her sexual identity? The B&W to colour? The silence to speech, AKA active, clear communication? The scribbling in the notebook was the halfway point; metaphoric; in the dreamstate?

    But I could be wrong.

  • Wow. This is absolutely brilliant. Hats off to everyone. Extremely well done, powerful and poignant. Loved-loved-loved the thematic choices.

And I know a thing (or twelve) about darker, grittier Wonderland-style retellings in the modern world. ;)

  • Everything at the beach looked really nice. Magic hour? Nice work.

  • I liked it, watched it without audio.

  • I actually liked this film! I thought it was fun. I liked your concept of the black and white to color. It was sort of a Wizard of Oz, meets Alice in Wonderland thing. There are only two things I didn't care for: the dialogue (I think it would have been much more intriguing as a silent piece), and the scribbling in the notebook, because it wasn't believable at all. Other than those two things, I seriously enjoyed this piece. I think you had some really good artistic concepts.

  • Ken2234, you exhibit an all-to-obvious amount of sub-par grammar. You, sir, should be ashamed.

  • I dont know it was enjoyable

  • alice is hot
