Yes, lets have it torn down, continue to strip buildings of history, and turn the entire thing into a Horse and Pony show for valley cyclists. The difference between what was there a year ago, and what has already been destroyed is horrendous.
MROSD cares about the environment. Fantastic. They dont, however, care about the history that lies in this Cold War Relic.
Go ahead with your cleanup and "Restoration." You've already destroyed the history of the site over the past year beyond recognition.

Why even keep the big box? It should all be torn down, all hazardous materials removed, and returned back to its natural state.

The Mt. Umunhum Site Restoration and Public Access Plan is currently undergoing environmental review pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act. The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) is analyzing all radar tower options (see pg. 5 of the Notice of Preparation) at an equal level of analysis for potential impacts to the environment. No decisions regarding the radar tower will be made until after the Board of Directors certifies the Final EIR (expected fall 2011).

@mrosd01 excuse me? um. a few friends and i were gonna walk up to mt. um. is it legal to walk on the roads as in, are they restricted from public?

@ThePopesMac Mt. Umunhum is still a hazardous closed area. Please obey all Closed Area signs. Entry to the closed area is a misdemeanor violation, and we ask for cooperation for your safety.
