I was called home to help care-give and grounds-keep for my folks about six years ago, during which time the sale of our family home loomed over us as broodingly as the ever more keen awareness of mortality that visits maturing life. Precious time spent together- sorting memories and belongings- and making the house and grounds sparkle for whoever would next take shelter in this quiet and verdant canyon we've loved all these years. Making furniture from the materials which might otherwise have gone to landfill became a way of letting go of what had been a home- and a new craft.
Please enjoy this glimpse of a local Nature Boy in transition- and keeping with tradition- through creating what I've come to call the "Fern Hill" collection of home and garden furnishings.

  • I sincerely hope that the people who become new caretakers of this beautiful home are sensible enough to appreciate the love and comfort and joy of it's essence, that which you and your family imbued it with.

Your use of the materials at hand is simple and elegant indeed... you, sir, are truly a craftsman!
