Or: Toronto City Council and the pickle of the purloined pork
City budget chief Mike Del Grande has in recent times taken to carrying around a piggy bank dubbed "Mini Mike" to remind his colleagues that the city needs to save its money and address a looming budget shortfall. Midway through the June 15 2011 council meeting, his pig disappeared.
Looking to help his colleague, Councillor David Shiner rose in council to inquire if anyone knew anything about the pig's whereabouts.
I am not making any of this up.

I was lazy as a kid; This video just showed why my parents pushed me to be a civil servant... Should have listened to them instead of going to college and working hard to be an IT. Damn-it!

This is truly emblematic of what Toronto and city council have devolved to
since the election of Rob Ford. The mayor spent the surplus, abolished a
$60-million-per-year car tax revenue stream and now they're worried about
a piggy bank.
There are far more pressing problems than a missing "mascot" piggy bank.
I think it's time that we start a countdown clock to the next election or
to when Ford is impeached for his election spending irregularities.
