This is our canyoneering trip through Heaps Canyon. We hiked up from the Angels Landing Trailhead and dropped into Phantom Valley next to Camp 4 off of the West Rim Trailhead. We left at 2:00 AM in the morning and got back to the Zion Lodge just after 4:00 PM. It was a great day filled with many rappels, downclimbs and swims. It ended with the unforgettable 285' free rappel at the Upper Emerald Pool. Awesome!

I noticed that on the big rap the person rapelling at 8:00 has an extension placed then the ATC on the end of the extension. Did they do that to aid in the ability to control the rap? It certainly makes 2 friction hand easier.

I started canyoneering about a year ago and I want to do Heaps canyon and Imlay canyon so bad! I am hoping that I will get to go sometime in the near future! Ram, I am waiting for you to plan the trip!

Having completed Heaps Canyon as well, this video is a joy to watch as it brings back fund memories. The most impressive part of this is the fact that you took a video recorder!!!!

We did Heaps in on 7-31-09, very intense experience. These guys and gals make it look easy. This is the most extreme place I have ever been. Great video and you are all very awesome!! Keep going!
