  • Grew up with the F40's and the heritage and Phase III paint and it is missed by me as well very much, but I keep it going in the modeling I do, more and somewhat only model Amtrak between mid 80's to early 90's. One question on this vid, Vidis is in FL correct, now isn't PO89 (89) Amtrak's Palmetto back then just a New York NY to Savannah GA, and why am I seeing a baggage borm, a diner and two sleepers, this looks like the MIA section of the Meteor? Am I correct on this?

  • @TJBV08 Vitis is in Florida, in the zephryhills area if your familiar with florida. Today it is a New York to Savannah train it ran to tampa and then to miami and then 90 ran the opposite from miami to New York. This is the miami section yes.

  • Nice!

  • @dwkcamman611 Thanks!

  • Great video; god I miss the F40's, the heritage equipment, and the phase 3 paint. Is this the Amtrak that went through Ocala?

  • @Railfan93 Thank you, yes this is the one that ran through Ocala.

  • @CSXtarell21 Believe me, I miss these days. Nothing today compares to stuff back then.

  • gosh i love old days, its a whole different world with everything back then,i wish i got to explore that

  • @WhistlepostWP Thanks, my father did an excellent job back then. It is very unfortunate and I do miss it running this line.

  • Great footage!! Too bad Amtrak doesn't run the through there anymore :(

You think the genesis will join that eventually? While they do have their problems(Most likely due to the fact Amtrak doesn't know how to maintain it's equipment properly, which is what led to the demise of the F40s in the first place.) they still provide reliable service especially on the Auto Train.

  • @kmothersil I could agree with you any more on that, thanks for the comment.

  • Even though the F40s are gone they will be known as an American classic along with the SDP40Fs and the E-units and F-units.
