Gardiner Hallock installs rosettes made out of composition (or "compo") on the chair rail in Montpelier's Drawing room. The rosettes were made by Gold Leaf Studio in Washington DC and are molded from surviving early-19th century ornaments found at Arlington House in Arlington Virginia. The maker of the Arlington house ornaments is also known to have made compo ornaments for Montpelier. Video by architectural historian Maggie Wilson.
