  • It never really sparked into life until the terrible wasp incident did it? The game really needs the big players like Ted 'The Head' Stead or even Spatsky if it is to regain its popularity of the late 80s early 90s. We in the UK dont invest in the sport either, hence no youg emerging talent coming through. Sad really.

  • I wouldnt pay to watch a 45 minute game. No doubt they would charge the same as a 6 hour match. Its expensive enough to follow as it is. I took my three boys to see a match in the summer and with the merchandise and what have you it cost me over £300. Not to mention the expence at Christmas trying to buy the action figures. I spent 4 weeks looking for a Spatsky. I got one on ebay in the end but I paid way over the odds.

  • @jasbk Eh?

  • 1:05 Ironic as one of the commentators would, in two years, later go on to voice a character of a similar name...

  • i used to sit through 25 minutes of the rubbish big train just to laugh at the "stare out" commentary every week. glad i found these then i can watch them without the rubbish rest of the show!

  • lol the analysis they do is hilarious

  • Much credit to Popstopolous for keeping his cool there, very professional. Some us may remember the infamous 3rd round of the 1977 Championships, where after a brutal 9 hours, a rogue squirrel evaded ground security and attached itself to the head of Sergio Salvadori, at one point even excreting. Refusing to give in, Salvadori stood firm for another astonishing 26 hours, before being edged out by Lien Chui. A statue stands in his honour outside the Rotherham Stareoutdome.

  • Ebay ticket touts put pay to this fantastic sport, as far as I was concerned. The ticket agencies have shown their true colours here. I've seen guys that have over a hundred tickets listed, still no action has been taken against them. I refuse to pay their prices.

  • This is all very good giving the big stars the attention and money they crave, with their rock & roll lifestyle but what about the amateur game. I'd much rather see more coverage of the grass roots game, that's what it's all about.

  • "He's done it again John!.....Extraoooooooooooooordinary"
