There's something so purist about him. I think only real stylistic purists like Brown and Chippington could have spawned alternative commedy, despite the fact its most advanced exponents have been very stylistically complex, e.g. Stewart Lee or Simon Munnery.
Quite brilliant, first saw him in the bizarre "cut-to" edits in The Young Ones..."check-mate. And why not?" Odd, but funny.
