This is an amazing piece by Nam Jun Paik dating back to 1969, in which the electron gun of a television has been modified to react to the audio input from two microphones.

  • Fake! That's a fucking after effects effect. Chroma + glow + brightness mod... The real Nam June Paik tv must be the second one posted.

  • take my word for it, friend... I shot the footage, and there's no after effects involved. All of the videos are unedited footage of the same TV.

  • fake? you must have been born after 1980 because you have clearly mistook an obvious crt phenomenon for a software based effect. that's pure analogue friend.

you can clearly see the electron beam reset to the center. Normally it scans across the screen to draw the image. In this case, it's warped by the magnetic coil which is in turn controlled by the audio signal. brilliant piece of art and way ahead of it's time.

  • thank you.

    please, where/when is/was this exhibition?

  • genial...

  • Is this Participation TV II?
