the tonguing is far from necessary between repeated notes. Try to separate them with a quick tap on the lower note (lets say you play E E, than play E (D) E). Its a common ornamentation in irish music.

@TheCherokeeboy Actually this is a classical recorder, not the traditional Irish instrument this jig is often played on.
