Also, remember the scene a little later where the Witch disappears from Munchkinland? If they couldn't afford retakes, why was a second take of the scene shot "for insurance", despite the first take being perfect? (This is why Margaret Hamilton was severely burned...the trapdoor that lowered her into the floor was mis-timed during one take, putting her right into the fire that accompanied her disappearance)

@daky2kill - They didn't have "only one shot to get the scene", MGM was one of the biggest studios in Hollywood, and they could certainly afford to do retakes...why do you think Dorothy's hair length changes from shot to shot during the entire scene where she first meets the Scarecrow? And there's no hanging here, either, just someone swaying to the music...do you seriously believe that of the 100 or so people on the set for this scene, not one of them noticed something was amiss?

They also had no way to edit movies back then... so the hanging munchkin was never removed... it has been edited out in newer copies though while restoring the movie and making it more colorful and visually appealing.

Above drivers hat slightly to right far back... seems to sway back and forth left to right... that's the dead munchkin... back then they only had one shot to get the scene... it costed them a ton of money to film... at lot more than today that is.

anyone who thinks this is a dead chick has to answer my questions right now.
Why would the whole cast carry on filming when clearly someone has hanged themselves on set? How the hell did that munchkin tie the noose all the way up there? why are you so stupid?

The girl would be limp and less mobile had she truly been hung by the neck. Seems a little lively for a dead chick don't you think?
