The Greater of Two Evils is a compilation album by Anthrax. The album was released in November 2004 (2004 in music) on the Sanctuary record label. The album is made up of fourteen Anthrax songs from the band's early (Neil Turbin & Joey Belladonna-era) albums, that were released between 1983 and 1990. These tracks have been re-recorded by Anthrax's then-current line-up, led by John Bush. The final track listing was decided by a vote on the band's website. The track list was then recorded by the band "live" in the studio over two days. The album was originally going to be named "Metallum Maximum Aeturnum", with possible plans to change it to "Old School, New School, Our School: Metallum Maximum Aeturnum" or "Metal Thrashing Mad: Metallum Maximum Aeturnum".

This is the last Anthrax release prior to the band's reunion with Joey Belladonna and Dan Spitz. Guitarist Rob Caggiano has since returned.

  • @scapeplan2 Yeah i was there it was freaking awesome

  • John Bush is awesome, but Neil Turbin sounds like an escaped mental patient, which fits better in this song, IMO.

  • They played this one for the first time in quite a while live on January 29th at Louisville, Kentucky.

  • @gilligan80 "o now i listen to grimorious mastification plumptitious assiousness... "

LMAO ... they sound like a rockin' band!

  • my personal favorite, "Tester" (from Stomp 442) may contain the greatest anti-alternative lyrics ever put into song, "Test the new model to see, test the new model against the original, I'm the man you wanna be, so test the new model and once again you fail me", priceless. This band rules, the sad part is that the music media will never let you know about bands like Anthrax

  • I fucking hate those people... it makes them better than you because they can find some shitty band you have never heard of.... "ach... i USED to listen to anthrax when i was younger... but they "sold out" so now i listen to grimorious mastification plumptitious assiousness... i mean they are TOTALLY original and you havent heard them yet because they are TOO awesome"

  • its funny too.. how many people smart off about john bush yet they like anthrax and they talk shit about john bush yet it was anthrax that picked him to be their singer there is no conflict in my mind... i respect musicians and whatever decisions they choose to make.... the only real sellouts are the fans... for example "..uh oh more people are listening to band A... i cant listen to band A anymore...ill be called a poser... i better go find band B because im so worried what others think of me"

  • its more diverse... oh so that makes it worse... its less repetitive... that makes it worse... hmmm... its understandable though... most of the critics cant play any instruments soooo...
