What a good race this was! Film Maker edged Maiden Tower in the 2003 Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland, achieving a career high. Film Maker, ridden by Edgar Prado for trainer H. Graham Motion, would conclude her career three years later with a second in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. The 2003 QEII was the first Grade 1 win for Motion, a former assistant to Jonathan Sheppard.

All 10 starters in the 2003 QE II field would win graded or group stakes at some point in there career. To illustrate the depth of the race, here are the credentials of some of the runners:

2nd-place finisher Maiden Tower- 1st G2 Prix de Sandringham and G3 Prix de La Grotte, 2nd G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas)

3rd-place finisher Casual Look: 1st G1 Epsom Oaks

7th-place finisher Spoke Fur: 1st G1 Mother Goose and G1 Coaching Club American Oaks

9th-place finisher Sand Springs: 1st G1 Diana

10th-place finisher Indy Five Hundred: 1st G1 Garden City Breeders' Cup Handicap
