It's not only the banks. It's also corrupt cities like Bell, Calif and others. Right now, in Calif, the majority of abandoned/foreclosed homes are in new subdivisions. Why? Because developers paid bribes to city reps to build "beautiful" but ultimately unlivable "communities". Notice that there are no sidewalks in the tracts. No plans for corner stores, neighborhood churches, or bike lanes. Just 100s of homes all stuck together, far away from anything resembling community, commerce or jobs.

The US started the industrial revolution? It was started in Europe, specifically the UK and Germany. Also, it wasn't the US which won WW2, the majority of the fighting was done by the USSR. Learn some history, read some books.
