Love this scene! As you say - it's not how it happened, but yes it makes for a great scene! Gotta love The Dambusters. Old 'Alan Turner' from 'Emmerdale' is in it!! =)

Good scene, but totally false in historical accuracy. Gibson had nothing to do with the idea for using spot lights. Still probably my fave war film though.

@matrox It's these 'stuffy' people you have to thank for your being able to sit at your computer without waiting for a knock on your door.If it wasn't for these 'stuffy'people, you would have probably by now (if you were lucky) be speaking with a German Accent and be working in a labour camp??.

RIP Richard Todd, war hero on screen and off

Your right about that, and it was written by Donald Peers. But i found his version a bit dull. thanks anyway!
I'd heared the story that the spot lights weren't the basis of the idea for maintaining altitude, but what is the true story?

@AbuAvital From what I understand, they were just experimenting with various methods, and found out that they could maintain altitude with the use of lights.

My god these people sound so stuffy when the talk. Look how reserved they are watching the dancing girls, no one asking for a lap dance or anything.

Also, I love when the fellow says to Gibson, "Don't you think she's nice?" and he just goes, "Yes, quite."

@dave41184 Yeah yeah, someone pointed that out :) But still, it's a funny reaction. When I was the sober driver for a coworker's bachelor night, I should've said that at the strip club.
"Yo, ain't that babe hot, dawg?"
"Hm? Oh, yes, quite."
