This is Stu maybe last live performance celebrating his 80th birthday. He has his family, and grand kids there at the show put on at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro. He and Bear McCreary were guest composers for the Halloween Fright Night 7 show. This show was outstanding. This is a audio recording only, with stills with out a flash taken along with screen caps used as a visual.

  • What is the piece that he is discussing at the very end?

  • @sonoki82 Stu was talking about the differences between today's TV shows over the show back in the 60's, and 70's when he wrote most of his TV theme music.

  • too bad the theater looks so empty

  • @APPLEPIE978 The theater was sold out. My guess about 1500 people were there. I was in the VIP section, and it was the only section not full. It was in the upper level. The rest of the sections were packed. Some of the photos were taken during intermission also.

  • I preferred the original, I must admit. The new show was different, but not Battlestar Galactica to me - especially without this music.

  • @goldcylon Were there any members of the Colonial Defense Forces, CDF or the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club?

  • @doctorarb Man... Have you even watched the reimagined show? It's got one of the best storytelling, character evolution and, yes; visuals that I have seen on tv.

It's absolutely NOT crap with special effects. It's a serious show that deals with serious themes and political commentary. It has also got an excellent set of actors who play their role amaizingly.

On a sidenote, Lucas ate his own words when doing the new trilogy...

  • The original BSG is sooo much better that the new crap! who cares about the sad special effects in the original, but as George Lucas said, "Special effects don't make a movie." or TV show in this case :)

  • @CptApollo630 they're both great in their own ways. i never pick between em lol.

  • Excellent! Easily as fine musically as any John Williams movie theme. Epic and grandiose, fully worthy of the subject. Why just a few centons ago, I was listening to it on the DVD of the original series, all those yahrens ago...it still gives me goosebumps!

  • Way to go Stu, thank you very much for this performance!
