"There's no man so wicked he cannot come home
Nor so good he passes each test"

Part 1 Songs of Remembrance
for Stuart Adamson
11 April 1958 - 16 December 2001

Please watch Part 2 afterwards if you have the time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVJVNDSfgYg
Thanks.

Part 1 features songs by John Hiatt:

"Come Home to You" in its entirety,
preceded by selected "quotes"
from the following songs:

Blue Telescope
Something Broken
The Tiki Bar Is Open

Because of events in his life history,
many of John Hiatt's songs touch on the
pain and bewilderment that a suicide
inflicts on those who are left behind.

Most of these are from his 2001 album
"The Tiki Bar Is Open", which was almost
all I listened to during those first months of 2002.

For full discography and lyrics see The Archives:
http://www.thejohnhiattarchives.com/main.html

The photos of Hawaii (Diamond Head, Honolulu and the tiki torches) are images I downloaded for use in this video. The other photos are my own.

The lyrics engraved in clay are from the walls of the honeycomb structure underneath the sculpture "Trouble Man Island", which is the main subject of Part 2.

Part 2 features original work by myself and
another well-known Big Country fan, Tom Kercheval, known in the BC community as Diss.

Thanks for looking.

  • When I watch in your blue telescope I can see a magpie in a rainbow... Stuart RIP. X

  • @aarlevanbram Cheers Bram! Happy New Year to you & Elly.

  • This is beautiful. Thanks for doing it. I know Stuart loved John Hiatt.

Stuart had so much more to give. A true kindred spirit.

  • Thank you kindly. I didn't know he was familiar with Hiatt, though it doesn't surprise me. I'm glad to hear it. They're both great songwriters. I wish I could have heard them play together.

    Cheers.

  • @BC25citizen Hi Eman, your welcome, there is some great music on Youtube, Uistman has some great Gaelic music, as does TNaG (Irish TV channel). Youtube was what got me into Big Country, so I am forever grateful for it.

  • @gsm1881 Ah, I love that line. That whole album carried me through the worst of it. Thank you for watching.

  • 2 of my favourite songwriters/musicians in the world. thank you

  • @BC25citizen - Hiatt was a big influence for Stuart.

I was never into country music, but John took chances with his lyrics. Definitely out there at times. I love his music.

    Cheers!
