United 585

The United Airlines flight 585 was a scheduled flight from the now discommissoned airport of Stapleton Denver to the Colorado Springs Municipal airport. The weather on the ay was windy and bumpy. The plane got caught in a terryfing spin on final approach from which it did not recover due to a rudder failure.

u used the wrong type of 737. United 585 was a Boeing 737-200 and the one u used is a 737-300. Other than that, great vid.!

Being in a 737 along the base of the Rocky Mountains is absolute hell. Its like being a pingpong ball in a pingpong match. I was in a plane that hit a rotor coming over the edge of the Rockies once. We went into this nasty dive a few seconds and heard the engines make a loud whirring noise, then the nose of the plane jerked back up and we continued normally. I don't know if that was a 737 or 727, but coming low over the Rockies in smaller aircraft is HELL.

My husband was 5 or 6 when this happened and actually saw it happen. They made the crash site into a nice park, I live 5 minutes from it. It left a BIG crator.
