Secret Files of the Inquisition - Episode 2

PBS May 9 and 16th at 9:00PM. Episode 2 - The Tears of Spain. Spain. 1468. A land where Christians, Muslims and Jews have lived in tolerance for centuries. But that time is ending. A young King and Queen bent on immortality proclaim themselves the Catholic Monarchs and start an Inquisition. Jews who had converted to Christianity are accused of secretly sabotaging the Christian faith. They become the pawns in a game of chess with dire consequences. Thousands perish in a ritual called the act of faith. In Zaragossa, the inquisitor is assassinated - setting off a wave of reprisals. Mothers will die to protect their children - and the highest in the land will pay the ultimate price. It is the beginning of the Spanish empire and a long dark night that will last for centuries.

Oppression such as the inquisition is always and only man who sought to control others through violence and fear.The church did not reflect the fact that Jesus was compassionate and Jesus said true followers of him would experience his realism through his own presence,the Holy Spirit.If Christians had known Jesus is with them to guide them,it would have been a different world.

I recommend you to watch a serious documental about the spanish conquistadores in America, let me tell you that they discovered more than 16 000 human skulls within one of their main piramyd, that exceeds by far the number of people killed by Spanish Inquisition, dont know how many people died in England for the "Witch s Pursuit" or in the Anglo-Colonization of the North American territories tough.

We, the French people of Canada were Jews from Spain. How in the heck do you think we got here? France was working with Spain to increase the numbers withing the R.C.Church... we have the Jewish DNA J2 AND no evidence of who we were before Year 1500 with France. What kind of an irony is that?

if this to be true bonjournuit why did god allow for this to take place why would he sit back and watch his children brutally massacre each other i thought he sacrificed his own son for that i thought that his son took all of the sins of man with as he ascended into heaven unless he didnt go very far and that this is heaven and what a place it is were neighbors kill each other and families are in chaos what a place were the majority of killers, sex offenders, and convicts are christian!!!

So many different kinds of 'evidence' has come to light about the Inquisition that it's impossible to tell what is truth anymore. Of course, most people will say anything to make the Church look bad.

a very nice video. I like to know more about this period in history of Spain (Andalusia at that time). I guess all that was started by Isabella (Queen of Castille and Ferdinand her husband). The whole idea of the Inquisition that took place in Rome, Spain and different parts of Europe, reflects that there was something went wrong in that period, because it is totally the opposite of the Christian doctrines of tolerance and love.
